Suzie White is an emerging Australian composer. Here is some of her recent work.
Rainy Afternoon came about through improvising on the piano imagining leaves falling to the ground. Over time though, the leaves became rain. It would work well as background music or a soundtrack. The sheet music to this piece is available too.
Fantasy Forest again came about through playing around on the piano moving to more obscure chordal choices. I think it was influenced by hearing John Williams’ Hedwig’s Theme. The image attempted through this piece is walking through an eeire forest – quirky but not scary.
Circus Fun is a playful orchestral piece. For a bit of fun I was trying to write something that would suit a cat video. I would love to have an orchestra capture this piece!
Signals Soundtrack was an entry for Heavyocity’s Foundations Scoring Competition. For this we had to write a score to Mayar Nouri’s short film “Signals” using only Heavyocity’s Foundations instruments and one other. The film itself is quite intense so I tried to capture that with giving it a fast tempo, lots of bass, boomy drums, choirs and busy strings.
Future Realisation was an entry for the Modern Composer Dojo challenge. It is a sci-fi inspired piece based on the lovely artwork stimulus shown. It is called ‘Future Realisation’ because every time I look at the picture I find a new way to interpret it.
